As a teenager, I set my sights on becoming an elite soldier, serving 20 years in the military, and retiring by 37, so I joined the army the day I turned 17. For the first two years, everything went according to plan. But then one night tragedy struck—during a training mission my parachute failed to open, and I plummeted 800 feet to the ground. The impact was catastrophic, but I somehow survived, earning the nickname "Splatt" from my fellow soldiers.

Since that night I’ve lived with constant pain in my neck, lower back, and other areas. It’s affected every aspect of my life. Then, in early 2020, I was in a serious truck accident, cartwheeling and rolling my vehicle. This re-aggravated the injuries from my parachute fall and caused new, debilitating damage. Both of my rotator cuffs were destroyed. My right shoulder was so damaged that the surgeon recommended a full shoulder replacement—a procedure that would only last 5 to 10 years before needing to be redone.

I was determined to prove otherwise. I pursued every possible therapy: chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy, and more. But when my insurance ran out, so did access to these treatments.

As a single person, I didn’t have anyone to help with massage therapy, so I decided to get creative. I designed a handle to extend the reach of a massage gun. But even that wasn’t enough—I still had to support the weight of the device and use muscles in my arms and shoulders that were too weak. Determined, I went back to the drawing board and eventually devised a way to make the device feel like it was remote-controlled. The result was incredible. I could finally get deep tissue trigger point therapy daily, and it worked so well that it amazed my doctors. They encouraged me to share it with others.

I tested dozens of massagers on the market but found none matched the performance of my own design. That’s when I decided to create a custom massage gun to pair with the handle—one designed specifically for small, intricate muscles in the neck and back, yet powerful enough to target large muscle groups as well. I even integrated a heated and cooled massage tip to offer a complete therapy experience. And with that, TherapyGrip was born.
